If your current flying and written
exams were carried out under the authority of the UK or Netherlands
CAA ignore this information:
N.B. Under JAA JAR-FCL 35 hours of training (25 dual 10 solo) must
be carried out under the authority of the JAA country issuing the
JAA PPL. All written exams must also be those administered by the
JAA member country issuing the JAA PPL. If the previous flying training
you have carried out has not being under the authority of the UK or
Netherlands CAA then this quotation is not valid. If this is the case
you would be required to carry out a JAA PPL course of 35 hours together
with all the written exams. We offer a special package for these circumstances
and offer a £400/$800 discount to our full JAA PPL course price
limiting the flying to 35 hours not 45 the normally required 45 hours.
We do not include the study pack in this special package as we presume
that you already have study material. Under certain circumstances
incomplete training for a PPL carried out in an ICAO country (all
JAA member states are ICAO) can be counted in full towards the issue
of a JAA PPL. In these circumstances the applicant is required to
provide at the time of application for the JAA PPL a copy of their
training record certified by the school that carried out the incomplete
training, a statement from the applicant explaining why the training
was not completed (weather, work, change in personal circumstances,
flying school closed, shortage of finance, etc.). In these circumstances
the JAA school completing the training is required to complete the
sections of the JAA syllabus that were deficient in the previous training
including the 150 n.m. solo cross country qualifying flight and all
the written exams.
After completion of the package you qualify for the issue of a JAA
PPL, Night Qualification and Radio Telephony Licence by the UK CAA.
This is the European Private Pilots Licence not the FAA (American)
licence. There is no conversion required at all, it is exactly the
same licence you would be issued with if you trained at home.
I would like to take a moment to bring to your attention to what is
included in the JAA PPL completion package with Ormond Beach
Aviation, the reasons why it is unique and offers
such tremendous value in comparison to our competitors, both at home
and overseas. These reasons are as follows:
We include in our price a Night Qualification,
other schools will charge you up to an additional £500, but
we give it to you free!
We include in our price a Radio Telephony
Licence which is an absolute necessity for you to fly in the UK and
anywhere else Europe.
We include
in our price accommodation for the duration of the package, the accommodation
is a 10 minute walk from the airport. The accommodation provided in
the package is based on you sharing a bedroom and additional accommodation
to the package allowance at $29/night or $200/week. If you do not
wish to share, exclusive occupancy bedrooms may be requested but are
subject to availability The supplement for this is $140 per week.
Accommodation for non-flyers is available at $224/week and we normally
allocate an en-suite bedroom/bathroom.
We include in our price collection from/return
to any Orlando or Daytona Beach Airport.
We include in our price an FAA (American)
class 3 medical which you need to fly solo in the USA.
We include the loan of the necessary maps
and navigation publications you need.
We include in our price 3 attempts at
all the written examinations (which is the maximum permitted by the
CAA).
We include in our price all the ground
school to prepare you for the written examinations.
We include in our price all necessary
pre/post flight briefings and classroom briefings required for the
flying training.
We include in our price the loan of a
headset for the duration of the course.
We include in our price the examiners
fee and the aircraft for the final Skills Test after completing the
JAA PPL Training.
We include the required registration fee
payable to TSA (£65/$130) and SEVIS (£50/$100) these payments
made by you are deducted as a pre-payment to the package price.
We include the cost of fingerprinting/photograph
that TSA require to be sent to them before you commence your package,
(completed in the USA).
Just so there are no "surprises":
We do not include the JAA Class 2
Medical, as the fee is variable and many of our customers have already
had the medical examination and been issued with the certificate.
You can have the medical examination either, before you come over
to us for the JAA PPL, whilst you are here with us, the cost is currently
$265, or when you return home. You do not need to have the JAA medical
to start and complete the JAA PPL, as you will fly in the USA under
the privileges of your FAA (American) medical which is included in
the package. However you must have the JAA medical before you apply
to the CAA for the JAA PPL.
We do not include the interview/processing fee payable to the US Embassy
for the necessary M1 Student Visa. These fees are currently £70/$140.
We do not include flights to/from Orlando or Daytona Beach.
We do not include food/beverage during the course.
We do not include the terminal cleaning of your
accommodation which is currently $35.
We do not include the issue fees for the JAA PPL Licence and Night
Qualification. These fees are payable directly to the CAA and are
currently £156 and £72 respectively. There is no issue
fee currently chargeable for the Radio Telephony licence.
If comparing the price of the OBA JAA PPL completion
package we offer with any competitors, check exactly what you are
getting for the price you paying. Compare "Apples with Apples"
not "Apples with Pears and Bananas"! Many of our competitors
advertised prices do not include everything that we give you free.
Therefore our JAA PPL completion package is undoubtedly the most complete,
comprehensive and best value package on offer by any school offering
JAA training anywhere in the world.
If time permits before you plan to start your JAA PPL completion package
with us, you can pre-study for the written examinations. We suggest
you purchase a complete OBA study pack for your package so you can
pre-study for the written examinations. You can purchase this study
pack from www.afeonline.com
on the OBA icon to proceed. The cost of your study pack is not included
in your package. You can also take all the JAA written examinations
before you come out for your package at any UK local flying club.
Make sure if you do this you have the examiner who conducts the examinations
sign for the "pass" on a PPL or RT application form, you
keep the form and bring it with you to OBA. Any study and examinations
you complete before commencing the package will considerably reduce
your workload during the 21 day JAA PPL package and allow you to focus
on flying training. There is no credit from the package price for
written exams that you have already passed as we still require you
to complete our ground school to ensure that you have covered all
the syllabus requirements and the differences between the JAA (European)
and FAA (American) regulations. Written exams included in the package
that are passed prior to you commencing the package reduces the cost
of the package by £35/$70 for each exam.
Health, there is no National Health Service in the USA, all medical
treatment is private and chargeable, we advise you to take out travel
insurance which includes medical cover. Ordinary travel insurance
excludes cover whilst engaged in "hazardous pursuits", pilot
training is considered by all normal travel insurance carriers as
such and any event that occurs whilst flying would be excluded from
insurance. We have negotiated with Trafford's Ltd. travel insurance
which includes full cover whilst you are carrying out your flying
training with us. Contact them direct and advise them you are attending
