THE COMPANY
Established sixteen years ago, Ormond Beach Aviation is owned and operated by a former British airline training captain and is virtually unique in the “jungle” of American flight schools by having a resident JAA pilot examiners on staff at all times. The company provides high standards of pilot training, particularly for European pilots, wishing to qualify for their JAA Private Pilot Licence (JAA PPL) through to the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). THE AIRCRAFT
Our Cessna and Piper aircraft, which are modern, well equipped and have instructor to pilot intercom, (headsets are loaned free). We now have the all new Liberty XL2, “next generation aircraft” available for your package. This is an amazing new aircraft equipped with panel mounted Garmin GPS and the revolutionary Teledyne Continental Motors FADEC engine control system. All our aircraft are maintained by our own organization to the stringent standards required by the United States Federal Aviation Administration and all carry liability insurance of $1m.
THE GROUND TUITION
You have unlimited use of our Self-Study Centre that provides an extensive library of the AFE PowerPoint Presentations and video based study materials to enable you to refresh your theoretical knowledge in preparation for the written exams and prepare you for your flying exercises. During the package you also will be given a number of ground briefings and classroom lectures on required aeronautical subjects.
THE LOCATION
We are located on the east coast of Florida, 55 miles north east of Orlando. Leisure time, although limited by your commitment to the training package can be spent during your stay on the “Worlds Most Famous Beach“, the Daytona Speedway (home of the Daytona 500) or at Kennedy Space Centre, Disney, Epcot and Universal Studios which are all an hour away by car. As well as the huge selection of restaurants and bars locally providing for all tastes, “The Turn and Slip Inn“, our own in house restaurant and bar, is open every day 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
THE CLIMATE
“The Sunshine State“, enjoys a climate, which is recognized as being nearly an ideal year round flying environment. Whatever time of year is convenient for your package, you are guaranteed continuity without the weather the interruptions that frequently plague parts of the U.S. and Europe. We do not suffer from Los Angeles “smog” or European low cloud and fog that can render visual private pilot flying impossible for days jeopardizing completion of accelerated flight packages. THE ACCOMMODATION
The package includes shared single bedded self-catering accommodation in our well equipped company houses. Towels and bedding are provided. Additional shared single bedded accommodation beyond the package allowance is available for $29/night. Single occupancy rooms are available, (on request and subject to availability), for an additional charge of $20/night. Accommodation for non-flyers is also available for $200/week. We require a conditionally refundable $160 damage/security deposit and terminal cleaning charge of $20 for duration of 14 night or less, $35 for durations of more than 15 nights is payable in addition to the package price.
