The single engine Piper Arrow is known as a complex aircraft because it has retractable landing gear and a constant speed propeller. This is the next step up from the fixed gear, fixed pitch propeller training aircraft above. The Arrow is faster, more efficient and more capable than simpler aircraft.

Cruise speed: about 160 MPH/137kts/255Km/hr

Engine: Lycoming O-360, four cylinders, 200 HP (displacement 360 cubic inches, or about 6 liters).

Normal fuel consumption: about 12 US Gallons per hour/45 liters per hour (varies with throttle setting)

Normal range with safety reserves: about 4.5 to 5 hours, or about 750 miles assuming zero wind (varies widely with speed, altitude and throttle settings)
